4th of July Cracker

This easy recipe is a hit with the kids! If you can keep it cool it makes a good sweet snack to take on your 4th of July picnic.

Fourth of July cracker

Ingredients:

1 (16 ounce) package miniature marshmallows
20 caramels
1/4 cup butter, cubed
10 cups popped popcorn
1 1/2 cups salted peanuts
1 cup M&Ms plain chocolate candies (the red, white and blue ones if you can find them)

Instructions:

Spread the popcorn in a 9x13 cake pan. Have the peanuts and M&M's ready nearby.

Put the marshmallows, caramels and butter into a large saucepan. Place the pan over a low heat and cook until all the ingredients have melted, stirring all the time.

Quickly pour the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn and, using a rubber spatula, mix together to coat the popcorn well. Work fast, as the caramel will harden. Stir in the peanuts and M&M's, and spread out evenly. Cool until firm.
