Christmas Stocking Ornaments

Reader suggestion! Thank you Carey!
I have a great idea for kids or adults to make for Christmas ornaments. This is a
great country look or can be adapted for any style tree.
You will need:
Scraps of fabric
Scraps of quilt batting (wadding)
Embroidery floss or metallic thread
Scissors
A large needle
Scrap cardboard, about 4x4 inches
Decorative scissors (pinking shears)
Instructions:
First cut a template for a stocking out of cardboard.
Fold your scraps of fabric in half (wrong sides together) and use the template to trace a stocking onto the fabric. Cut out.
Use the same template to cut a stocking out of the quilt batting and sandwich it between the fabric.
Then, using the needle and thread sew a line around the outside with a basting stitch, about 1/4 inch in from the edge.
You can create a loop to hang the stocking with by folding a short length of ribbon or more metallic thread and catching the ends inside the
stocking as you stitch around the top edge.
Trimming the edges with a decorative pair of scissors looks lovely and also keeps the raw edges from unravelling.
Thanks and I hope you enjoy!
