Edward II Printables
King Edward II ruled England from 1300 to 1327. Also known as Edward of
Carnarvon, he was not a good king, and during his reign much of the progress
which had been made by his father, Edward I,
was lost. Edward II's hold on the country was so poor that parliament deposed
him (decided he shouldn't be king anymore) and he was asked to "abdicate", or
hand back, the throne. He did so, on the understanding that his young son would
become Edward III. He was then
imprisoned and is thought to have been murdered (although some historians argue
that he survived and lived in exile).
