Flapjacks

snacks for kids

Lindsay says: Flapjacks are always a favorite with kids and adults, and their oat content makes them filling and delicious. Kids love to help you make flapjacks too, and the fact that everything happens in one pan on the stove makes clean-up easier. I have tried many flapjack recipes over the years with varying degrees of success, but this one works for me every time.

You will need:

4 oz margarine or butter
4 oz soft brown sugar
3 oz golden syrup (or corn syrup or agave nectar)
8 oz rolled oats

Instructions:

Grease and line 1 x 8” square shallow tin.

Heat oven to 350C (180C or Gas Mark 4).

Melt the butter, sugar and syrup together in a saucepan, the stir in the oats and mix thoroughly. Press into the tin.

Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Cool in the tin for a couple of minutes, and then cut into fingers.

Cool completely before removing from the tin.
