Henry VI Printables
Henry VI became King of England at the tender age of eight months old when
his father, Henry V, died unexpectedly. He
ruled the country from 1422 to 1461, with a regent for the first 15 years. Henry
became increasingly unpopular during his reign, and suffered from insanity as he
grew older. Eventually the situation deteriorated into the "War of the Roses",
in which Henry's family, the House of Lancaster, fought another powerful family,
the House of York, for the throne. The House of York won, Henry VI was
imprisoned and later murdered in the Tower of London, and
Edward IV became king.
