A quick and refreshing concoction for a lazy summer afternoon.
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Juice from 4-6 lemons
4 cups of cold sparkling or plain water
Instructions:
Mix together one cup of water with one cup of sugar in a small saucepan. Heat
the mixture to boiling, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely
dissolved.
Allow the water and sugar mixture to cool, before pouring it
into a pitcher
or bowl and refrigerating.
Once the mixture has cooled, add the juice from the lemons and stir. Strain the
lemon juice if desired, and then mix four cups (or more, to taste) of cold water
into the lemonade.
To serve, pour the lemonade into a pitcher and add lemon slices.
Tip: Make an extra batch and freeze it into ice cubes to add to the lemonade,
prior to serving. This will prevent the drink from becoming watered down.
