Mary I Printables
The eldest daughter of
Henry VIII, Queen Mary I ruled England from 1553 to 1558. When her half-brother
Edward VI died,
Lady Jane Grey very briefly became Queen, but
Mary I rode into London and assumed the throne 9 days later. A staunch Roman
Catholic, she restored England to the Catholic faith and in the process burned
many enemies of her Church at the stake, earning the nickname Bloody Mary. She
was succeeded by her half-sister, Elizabeth I.
