Muesli Bars

Rosemary says: These make a good, healthy snack for kids - and a real treat for the lunch box!

Muesli Bars

Ingredients:

150g (5.3oz) plain (dark) chocolate
45ml (3tbsp) golden syrup
25g (1oz) butter
225g (8oz) Swiss style muesli
150g (5.3oz) milk chocolate

Instructions:

Melt the plain (dark) chocolate with the golden syrup and butter in a bowl over a pan of boiling water, or if you are very careful in a saucepan directly on the heat. Stir in the cereal and mix thoroughly making sure it is completely coated with the chocolate mixture. Press into a shallow square tin about 10 inches square.

Melt the milk chocolate in a bowl over a pan of boiling water and stir till smooth. Pour it over the cereal mixture and spread with a knife or spatula. Mark with a fork and chill for about 2 hours until set.

To remove it from the tin run a knife round the edges of the cake, turn it upside down onto a board and give the bottom of the tin several hard taps. You may need to do this a couple of times. Cut into squares or fingers.
