Activity Village News

A Message From Lindsay
As promised, this week we are looking at Advent - with a brand new
section devoted to bringing you ideas for home-made advent calendars,
and advent printables too. Advent calendars are so exciting for children
(of all ages!) and if you have time to make your own you can add some
really special touches. You've still got a couple of days to go until
December! (We've got some really great ideas for filling up those
home-made advent calendars, too!)
Also this week we look forward to New Year 2009 - you'll find lots of
new printables on the site. We've got some great new ideas for St
Andrew's Day (including a huge stock of notebooking pages for famous
Scots!), and some very cute new Christmas and winter colouring pages.
I can't tell you how busy we are at the moment, and how many new
activities I have piling up here ready to go online! We are adding new
pages each and every day, so please check back often (and tell your
friends and family about Activity Village, too!)

Goal Setting For Kids
Ever thought about Goal Setting for Kids? Goal setting is one of the
most important skills that a person can learn, and the earlier this
skill is learned, the more chances there are for successful outcomes in
a person’s life. Adults know that goal setting is all about planning,
making progress with that plan and reaching final goals or achievements.
Once a child learns how to do this, they can use this tool for more
success in school and at home.
Goal setting for kids will help your children to do well on their school
tests and in activities such as sports, music programs or outside
academic or arts programs - even at home, and with their personal
finances. Teaching your child how to be a goal setter will give them a
sense that they are capable of whatever they want to do. That’s
valuable!

A Giggle!
"I've noticed that one thing about parents is that no matter what
stage your child is in, the parents who have older children always tell
you the next stage is worse."

Something To Think About..
"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?
It came without ribbons. It came without tags.
It came without packages, boxes or bags.
And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.
What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store.
What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more."
Dr. Seuss
