Firstly, many apologies to those of you who couldn't access the
website over the Easter weekend and for the week or so afterwards. Sadly
I came back from holiday to find that the site had gone very slow, and
for some people was completely unreachable, and it has been a mystery as
to what caused the problem so I can't even now be sure that everything
is absolutely OK again! If you are still having problems please let me
know as soon as possible (email me on editor @ activityvillage.co.uk)
because the more information I have the more likely I am to be able to
track the problem down and fix it for once and for all.
If you scroll down to the "What's New" section below, you'll see that
this is a bumper newsletter! We've added a staggering number of new
printables and activities this week on a huge variety of subjects, so we
hope there will be something for everyone!
I've come across two really super blogs recently where the owners have used
Activity Village printables or activities to create some really special cards:
The second uses our origami bunnies to make a whole community of Easter cards -
something to keep on the back burner for next year!

If you use any of our printables or crafts and would like to share the results,
we'd love to see them!
What's New At Activity Village?
To celebrate the 500th anniversary of the succession of Henry to the
throne of England we've begun to build our "Tudor" resources. So far we
have
King Henry VIII - printables,
colouring pages, information,
activities and links
I've run out of time for this newsletter, but Sarah and the boys have
been working on some fabulous new Tudor crafts and we have more
printables and worksheets to come, which I hope to get up on the site in
the next few days.
Our latest preschool video. Can your little one work out who is hiding behind the tractor? Or under the
yellow hat? This short video is fun to watch, and will get your child guessing!
Use it to increase vocabulary, talk about positioning words (under, behind etc),
and develop observation and memory skills - or just for fun! Who's Hiding?
New for Teacher Appreciation week (or ready in plenty of time for the
end of the school year) are 4 super new cards for your child's favourite
teacher, which brings our
collection to a total of 12 to choose from Teacher thank you cards to
print
We also have new Teacher Appreciation printables - acrostic poem pages,
bookmarks (with quotes and blank), writing prompts and a cute little folding notebook to print
and fill in. New "Teacher Appreciation"
printables
We have some new Father's Day printables, including writing prompts and
mini booklets to print, fold and fill out (and we have many more planned
for the next few weeks...) Father's Day Printables

questions that have answers." John J. Plomp
Have You Seen?
We have a growing collection of "recycling crafts" to help you use up
your craft cupboard and kitchen junk box supplies! Kids love nothing
better than creating something special out of cereal boxes, cardboard
tubes and some poster paint, so why not grab some inspiration here... Recycling Crafts
I've Been Having Some Fun..
Here's a slideshow I made with some of my favourite photos of my kids
when they were young, using Animoto - an amazing new (free) online
service.
Something To Think About..
"The next time it begins to rain... lie down on your belly, nestle
your chin into the grass, and get a frog's-eye view of how raindrops
fall... The sight of hundreds of blades of grass bowing down and popping
back up like piano keys strikes me as one of the merriest sights in the
world." Malcolm Margolin
I've had lots of fun this week making slideshow
videos out of my favourite photos, using the free online service from
Animoto -
it "reads" the music you choose and designs a professional quality
slideshow to fit! You can see one of my attempts at the bottom of this
newsletter... Animoto -
