Activity Village News22nd May 2009 A Message From Lindsay
Some of you have written to me in the past few months asking if we could arrange
for a "feed" of the latest updates to the website (particularly as I have been
very poor at updating the Activity Village Blog!) Well, I'm pleased to announce
that we now have a brand new feed, to which you can subscribe by clicking the
button in the menu bar at the top of any page, or below. If you use iGoogle,
Yahoo or MSN as your home page, or regularly check another feed reader, you can
be notified as new additions to the site as and when we add them!

If you prefer, you can bookmark the new Updates page within Activity Village and find a list of the 25 latest additions to the site there! Coming up soon:
21st June - Father's Day Lisa sent in this photo of a table full of Mother's Day presents made at the European School Kindergarten in Munich this year - don't they look pretty! If you want to try them too, they are based on our I Love My Mum Flower.
If you use any of our printables or crafts and would like to share the results, we'd love to see them!
Finally, for UK visitors only, I thought you might like to hear about a new
makeover competition being launched by Sir Terence Conran and Tara Bernerd, for
which you can nominate a deserving space at the heart of your community.

Lindsay's Web PicksA fantastic new music website from BBC schools,
'Heroes of Troy'. Aimed at ages 9 to 12, it teaches the story of the
Trojan War with a number of catchy songs (in a variety of styles) to
learn along the way. You can download song lyrics, music, backing tracks
etc. How does your school day compare to a day in this
typical primary school in China? One thing is bound to be different -
not many primary schools have 4,000 pupils like this one does! Doodle for Google - vote for the favourite kids
doodles on the theme of "What I Wish for the World" Make a visit to a home movie special! Print out
some tickets and a popcorn box, and you're ready to hit "play"... This is a wonderful site which allows children to
make up their own comic strips using a selection of fun cartoons. As the
creator, Bill, says: "Users make comics strips by selecting from 15 fun
characters with different moods -- happy, sad, angry, worried - and
write words for blank talk and thought balloons to make characters talk
and think. This site is used by educators to teach language, reading and
writing skills, and also for students in ESL programs to facilitate
