Activity Village News

A Message From Lindsay
Some of you have written to me in the past few months asking if we could arrange
for a "feed" of the latest updates to the website (particularly as I have been
very poor at updating the Activity Village Blog!) Well, I'm pleased to announce
that we now have a brand new feed, to which you can subscribe by clicking the
button in the menu bar at the top of any page, or below. If you use iGoogle,
Yahoo or MSN as your home page, or regularly check another feed reader, you can
be notified as new additions to the site as and when we add them!
Need help? Find out all about
subscribing to a feed.
If you prefer, you can bookmark the new Updates page
within Activity Village and find a list of the 25 latest additions to the site
there!
Coming up soon:
21st June - Father's Day
1st July -
Canada Day
4th July -
Fourth of July
July - end of school year (say thank you to
your child's teacher!)
Summer
Lisa sent in this photo of a table full of Mother's Day presents made
at the European School Kindergarten in Munich this year - don't they
look pretty! If you want to try them too, they are based on our
I Love My Mum Flower.

If you use any of our printables or crafts and would like to share the results,
we'd love to see them!
Finally, for UK visitors only, I thought you might like to hear about a new
makeover competition being launched by Sir Terence Conran and Tara Bernerd, for
which you can nominate a deserving space at the heart of your community.
mydeco.com, the UK’s leading interior design and homewares website, is offering
one lucky community a design makeover by British design icons Sir Terence Conran
and Tara Bernerd. The site is calling for nominations from people in cities,
towns and villages across the country for the indoor community space that
deserves to win. If you are interested you'll find
more information here. (Closing date
29th May)

Are you holding a swimming gala or having a swimming party this summer?
Or planning on spending lots of time at the pool and improving your
child's swimming ability? You might want to print out some of our
swimming certificates in cheerful designs (mermaid, dolphins,
shark and whale) which will appeal to boys and girls of all ages.
Swimming Certificates

These new printable
blank certificates can be used for many occasions, within school or without -
to mark an achievement, good behaviour, or perhaps a course completed.
These are traditional designs which are easy on ink requirements and good for
photocopying.

You can print these colourful Special Award Certificates to give to kids
in the classroom or home. Aimed at younger children, these certificates
are designed to "catch" and reward episodes of good behaviour rather
than academic achievement. Love them!

Something To Think About..
Today I smiled, and all at once things didn't look so bad.
Today I shared with someone else, a bit of hope I had.
Today I sang a little song, and felt my heart grow light,
And walked a happy little mile, with not a cloud in sight.
Today I worked with what I had and longed for nothing more,
And what had seemed like only weeds, were flowers at my door.
Today I loved a little more and complained a little less,
And in the giving of myself, I forgot my weariness.
