The Giant Panda is one of the most recognisable species on earth with their black eye patches.
Their Latin name ailuropoda melanoleuca means "black and white cat-foot".
The Giant Panda is native to the mountains of Western China. Adults grow to 4-6 feet long and
2 to 3 feet high, so they are not as large as many people imagine. Although they are bears, and
members of the order Carnivora, 99% of their diet is bamboo.
