Finding items to sell on eBay is easy when you have kids
- and what could be better than de-cluttering your house of unwanted and
outgrown items while making money at the same time! People are earning
hundreds of dollars a month by selling kid related items. Here are some
general ideas to help you get started.
Kids Items You Can Sell
Clothes, toys, DVDs and videos are good money makers on eBay. Although
you can sell books, they are not generally great sellers on eBay unless
they are collectable: we have always done better selling our good
quality used books through Amazon Marketplace).
Remember, your photos are
everything - don't even try to sell your items unless you are prepared
to spend time taking some good photos and showing off your items to
their best advantage.
Tips for selling clothes:
Clothes usually sell best in "lots". To be able to buy
a collection of clothes in one swoop is very popular on eBay, especially
if you take good photos and display the clothes well.
When your kids grow out of their seasonal clothes do
not throw them out. Bundle them into different lots by category. For
example, bundle girls dresses separate from girls play clothes, but only
do that if you have at least six of each different type.
Lots of any item sell better than single items unless the item is
unique, "Designer" or high priced. For example, a hand embroidered dress
that you paid a lot for would probably sell better by itself instead of
bundled with other basic dresses.
Tips for selling toys:
Most toys in good condition will find a buyer on eBay
for a reasonable price. If you manage to get hold of a "hot" toy, you
might even be able to make a profit selling it!
Have your children ever received duplicate birthday or Christmas
presents? Sell them on eBay.
Remember to think about how you will package your toy
safely, and how much it will cost to send. You will have to specify
shipping costs when you list your articles, so make sure you get it
right! Items which will cost too much to ship generally don't sell.
Kids jigsaws are popular and relatively easy to post.
Small collectable toys and cards generally sell very well. As with all
things, condition is hugely important and so are your photos!
Save those McDonalds toys. Some Kids Meals toys sell
high. Take the new Star Wars toys from Burger King...very collectible.
You will find them selling on eBay from $1.00 to $5.00, not including
shipping.
Ebay has a whole section devoted to dolls and bears.
If your daughter doesn't want her collectible dolls anymore sell them on
eBay.
Tips for selling videos and DVDs:
Kid's videos and DVDs are also good money-makers. Bundle about three of
these together, and you can usually make about $7.00-$12.00 per bundle.
Bundle more and the money goes up. Disney movies in hard cases can go
for a higher amount. This also works for other types of movies as well.
If your DVDs are in excellent condition and are
up-to-date, you might also want to investigate Amazon marketplace -
where good DVDs can sell like hotcakes!
Dressing Girls For School
I have spoken to so many parents who tell me it is a monumental task to get
their younger daughters ready for school in the morning. Unless your daughter
has only one set of clothes to wear, she probably wants to change her outfit
three times before choosing the one she will "agree" to wear to school each day.

Who Owns The Problem; Parent or Child?
It is tempting for parents to assume ownership and responsibility for everything that goes on in the life of their child. However, when the parent jumps in too soon to solve the problem or give the answer, the child never learns to trust his own judgment and become a critical thinker.
