Tanni Grey Thompson

Carys Davina Grey-Thompson, nicknamed "Tanni" as a girl and now Baroness Grey-Thompson, comes from Wales and is a former wheelchair athlete. Tanni was born with spina bifida. Over her career she won a total of 16 Paralympic medals, including an incredible 11 golds. She also held over 30 world records, and won the London Marathon six times between 1992 and 2002.

Fun fact: When her sister first saw the baby Carys she referred to her as "tiny", pronouncing it "tanni". And that's how she got her nickname!
