These fun double-sided cards have been designed to help children understand subtraction by crossing out with some hands-on practice. Choose a picture and print that page the required number of times for the numbers you are working with and fold the cards in half down the vertical dotted line, gluing back to back and then cutting out around the edges.
Now lay out a number of cards on the table - say 6 monkeys - counting them with your child. Now ask your child to "cross out" 2 monkeys or "take 2 monkeys away". Your child simply turns the required number of cards over to show the crossed out side. How many monkey are left? If necessary, count the cards which remain face up.
This set contains a hippo and whale (landscape cards) and a monkey and elephant (portrait cards).
