Many children start learning about the Bible by reading or listening to the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and how the snake tempted Eve to eat an apple from the forbidden tree. These activities cover Genesis chapter 3 verses 1-15. You will find colouring pages in a variety of formats, worksheets and other suggested activities.
With thanks to Commonforall.com for these wonderful images.
1 Now the snake was the cleverest of all the animals that the Lord God had made. He spoke to the woman. “Did God really tell you not to eat fruit from the trees in the garden?”
2 The woman replied, “We may eat fruit from all of the trees in the garden except the one in the middle. But God told us not to eat the fruit from that tree, or even touch it, or we would die.”
4 The snake said, “You won’t really die! 5 But God knows that, if you eat that fruit, your eyes will be opened and you will understand good and evil, and then you will be like God.”
6 When the woman was convinced that the tree provided good food and was lovely to look at, and that by eating its fruit she would become clever, she picked some of its fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband and he ate it too. 7 After eating the fruit it was as if their eyes were opened. They looked around and realised that they were both naked, so they sewed fig leaves together, and made simple clothes to cover themselves. 8 Then they heard the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid away from Him behind the trees.
9 The LORD God called out to the man, “Where are you?”
10 The man replied, “I heard your voice in the garden but I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid away.”
11 God said, “Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat fruit from the tree that I told you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “Yes. You gave me this woman as a companion. She gave me fruit from the tree. I ate it.”
13 The Lord God asked the woman, “What have you done?”
The woman replied, “It was the snake! He tricked me, so I ate the fruit!”
14 The Lord God turned to the snake and said, “Because of this you will be cursed - more than any tame or wild animal. You will crawl on your belly and eat dust all your life. 15 You and the woman will be enemies, as will her children and your children. Her son will step on your head and you will bite his heel."
