Hadrian's Wall was one of Rome's greatest engineering projects. Here's a poster of Hadrian's wall today to print and use in displays.
Hadrian's Wall is an ancient wall that was built almost 2,000 years ago by the Romans in northern England. It stretches for 73 miles across the country, from the east coast to the west coast. The wall was built to mark the northern boundary of the Roman Empire and to protect the Roman Empire's territory from the barbarian tribes that lived beyond the wall.
The wall was constructed over a period of six years, starting in AD 122, and took over 15,000 men to build. At its highest point, the wall was 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide. It was made primarily of stone and had 80 small forts, 16 larger forts and numerous watchtowers along its length. The wall also had a ditch on the northern side, which added an extra layer of defense.
Today, Hadrian's Wall is a popular tourist attraction and visitors can learn about the Roman history of Britain as they explore the wall and its surrounding areas. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, which means it is recognised as an important part of human history and culture.
