House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha

Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's beloved husband, was from the line of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Victoria could not pass the Hanoverian line down to her son, and Edward VII was therefore a monarch from the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. His successor, King George V, replaced the German name with Windsor during the First World War.
