Paper Plate Peacock

The peacock is the national bird of India. As you will see from the photo below, you can make a glorious peacock with a paper plate and some other craft cupboard supplies!

Paper plate peacock

You will need:

A large paper plate
A small paper plate
Blue paint
4 sheets of green A3 paper
Blue paper
Black paper
Scraps of yellow and white paper
Black pen
Glue

Instructions:

Paint the backs of both plates blue.

While the plates are drying make your feathers by folding the pile of green paper in half along the short edge. Cut out a large feather shape and trim around the edges. When you separate out the pages you will have 8 feathers.

Fold the blue paper in half, then in half again, then in half for a third time, and cut out an eye shape. Glue the blue eyes to the top of the feathers.

Repeat with the black paper, but cut a smaller eye shape. Glue these to the centre of the blue eyes.

Glue the two plates together along the rim.

Glue the feathers to the back of the large plate in a fan shape.

Finally, draw two eyes on white paper, cut them out and glue them to the small plate. Finish off by adding a triangle of yellow paper for the beak.
