This is a fun game that encourages turn taking and careful listening. We developed it as part of our Phonics Phase One resources, but of course it can be enjoyed for any reason.
Print and cut out the animal pictures. Put them into a bag or a box. Draw out a card and see what animal you have got. Make the noise that animal makes. Can the children guess what the animal is? After a few goes to demonstrate the game, allow the children to pull the cards out and to see if you or other children can guess what animal they have from the noise that they make.
You can also use these cards as "calling cards" with our Phase One Animal Sounds Bingo Cards or print them twice to make a simple matching / memory game.
