William McKinleyWilliam McKinley (1843-1901) was the 25th President of the United States, serving from 1897 to 1901.

McKinley was a Republican President whose time in office saw rapid growth in the economy. He kept tariffs to protect US industries and kept the Gold Standard - a way of keeping prices stable. He won the Spanish-American War which gave the United States control of Puerto Rico, Guam, the Philippines and, for a short time, Cuba.
