Here's a fun collaborative adaption of one of my favourite activities, people watching. It's a good way to keep everyone entertained in traffic.
Age: 4+
Choose a car or vehicle around you.
Give the vehicle a name and personality and describe it to your car mates. Where do you think it is going and where did it come from?
Encourage every one to be as imaginative as possible and use things they can see (such as a bump to the car, a car sticker etc) to expand their stories.
This game works well both as a competition or as a shared project when you can work together to compete against the clock.
Age: 4+
Begin by trying to spot a red car.
Sometimes when you are stuck in a car the last thing that you want are competitive games and the risk of arguments. This is a fun story telling game that all of the family can enjoy.
Age: 5+
This game needs a little preparation before you leave as you need to make a list of 20 things you are likely to see on the journey. If you don't know the journey route well, have a look at an online map for ideas.
Age: 5+
