Making a dog puppet out of a sock is almost traditional - but it never fails to delight! Here are some simple instructions for making your own, and of course the kids will enjoy playing with once they have made it. The sock you choose will make all the difference. Black, grey or brown work well, of course. White or cream with black or brown ears would be good. Tartan or stripey would be original!
You will need:
- An old sock
- Scraps of felt
- Wiggle eyes
- Fabric glue
Instructions:
- Cut two ears, a nose and a tongue from the felt scraps.
- Slip the sock on to your hand, using your thumb to form the bottom part of the mouth. Then you can work out where to glue (or sew) on your tongue.

- Glue on the ears, nose and eyes. You are ready to go!
