MLK Day Crafts
These Martin Luther King Day crafts can be used to teach children about other
colours and cultures, and discuss the principals that Dr Martin Luther King Jr
stood for. We have crafts which concentrate on his "I have a dream speech", crafts that give
you an opportunity to talk about children of different races and colours, and also crafts with a "peace" theme. Explore below...

Hand banner
This makes a good class or family project. Why not make the banner long enough
to circle a room so it joins together in a unified circle? Each child can use a
different Martin Luther King quote and think about its meaning.

One world poster
We made the figures for our One World poster from die cut doll shapes, but you
could print out some of our paper dolls. Older children may like to dress the
dolls in a range of traditional costumes.

Multicultural mask
A simple and fun way to help children see that they are all the same regardless
of skin colour. Have the children look through both sides of the mask and ask if
it makes any difference which face they show to how they feel.

Dove of Peace
Martin Luther King's message was always one of peace. Try this pretty peace dove
craft as a reminder.
