Most of our party games and activities will be suitable for a
slumber (sleepover) party, but you might find that the children will need one of
two extra games that take some preparation from you in advance. A stock of
"quiet" games which will keep their attention is also vital!
Anagram ChallengeNEW!
This game can be adapted for any age or ability group and almost any situation,
including parties and plane journeys!
Cotton Wool Giggles
Here is an unusual party game which will get the children giggling!
Hot Potato Dressing Up
This variation of "pass the parcel" causes much excitement and giggling, and
there are no prizes needed!
Mystery Box
This is a great game for the beginning of a party, when you are still waiting
for guests to arrive and you need to keep individual children amused. It also
works well after tea or at a slumber party.
The Hat Game
Popularised as a "board game" which you can now buy in the shops, we have been
playing this one for years in my family - and with much enjoyment too. It makes
a great game for mixed age groups and works best as a sit-down game, perhaps in
the early evening or after a meal.
The Name Game
This is probably my all-time favorite game, as it can be tailored for all
occasions, works with all ages, breaks the ice when people don't know each
other, and causes much merriment with the best of friends.
Under The Cups
This is a party version of "concentration" with an added twist!
What's In The Sock?
A good game to quieten down a party, this works well with mixed age groups and
is also a fun activity to provide for bored kids at home on a rainy afternoon!
Who Will You Be?
A fun way to give the children at your slumber party a new identity for the
evening!
There are many more game ideas you can use in our
Party Games section.
Make A Ping Pong Bat And NetNEW!
The Chinese introduced table tennis to the world and have always been extremely
good at the sport. You can make your own ping pong bats and net and have a go!
Make A Name Book
More of a craft activity than a game, this is a great way for kids to get to
know each other at the beginning of the school year.
Fishing (Tiu-u or Chinese Dominoes) This game of Chinese dominoes sounds a little complicated to
begin with but is in fact very simple to play. The name ‘fishing’ comes from
the idea that players ‘fish’ for matching dominoes. You can either print out
our dominoes or make your own more authentic version with popsicle sticks
(instructions included!)
Matching Game cards can be used to play Memory
(Concentration), Go Fish and many other card games, as well as played with
our sorting mats by one child on their own. Printable Games
