I designed these cards to be used with our mix and match number symbols cards and mix and match number word cards with the idea that you would ask the children to count the animals and place the correct number card and word card in position on the spaces provided.
If you laminate these counting cards first they become even more useful. Show the children how to "loop" the animals together with a dry wipe pen - into groups of 5 or 10 - and then "count on from 10" for a quicker, more accurate answer. You can then either place the mix and match cards in position as before, or ask your child to write the number and the number word in the boxes.
