Autumn Word and Sentence Skills Worksheet KS2

This clever autumn-themed worksheet can help children expand their writing when they need a little inspiration, using the 5 'w' questions.

For example:

Who: A little grey squirrel.

Is doing what: A little grey squirrel is looking for acorns. 

We ask children to read the words and then decide whether they are "summer" or "autumn" activities and write them in the correct boxes. Then they can have a go writing their own sentences and drawing a picture of their favourite summer or autumn activity.

Using the 5 "w" words is a clever method of encouraging reluctant writers to expand on what they are writing - and a useful tool for all students when they are feeling stuck. On the first page we give an example, starting off with "my black cat".
