The kids may not be able to take part in the real Winter Olympics, but they can have some fun with our Winter Olympics board games! Here's a slalom game which captures all the fun and excitement of the real event. Play with 2-4 players.
In preparation:
- Cut out the two board pieces and glue them onto card to make one long track.
- Cut out and laminate the counters.
- Find a die
How to play:
The aim of the game is navigate down the slope, passing through each of the gates.
Youngest player goes first. Players can start anywhere on the top line.
To move, roll the dice. A player can move any number of places up to the maximum on the dice. So if you roll a 3 you could move 1, 2 or 3 spaces. Players can move down or sideways, but not diagonally.
You cannot change direction mid-turn.
If you land on or pass through a fall square you miss a turn.
You can jump or share a space with other players.
The winner is the first person to reach the finish line!
